1. The King Fahd Causeway (Jisr al-Malik Fahd) جسر الملك فهد is a series سلسلة

6. On 26 November 1986, the causeway was officially inaugurated افتتح in the

presence بحضور of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques , خادم الحرمين الشريفين

King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia and His Royal Highness صاحب السمو

الملكي Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifah, Emir أمير of the State of Bahrain, with

the latter الأخير consenting وافق على to naming تسمية the bridge King Fahd

Causeway.

7. As of 2010, it is estimated تقدر that number of vehicles عربات using the

causeway is about 25,104 daily. The total number of travelers across the

causeway from both countries in the year 2010 was 19.1 million

passengers مسافرين , or an average معدل of 52,450 passengers per day.

8.The project cost تكلفة المشروع a total of US$800 million (SAR3 billion). One of

the major رئيسي contractors of the project was Ballast Nedam, based in
